There are really biographical moments in a research path. It can be an inspiring book, an enlightening conference, insightful fieldwork, and so on. For me, a fellowship at the Law and Anthropology Department has become such a biographical moment. I am absolutely sure it is one of the best places for legal anthropologists. The excellent library is available 24/7 (only this is enough to justify my previous statement), and many interesting events, discussions, and meetings take visitors to frontier science. However, the chief treasure of the Department is the unique interdisciplinary community. You feel it permanently, whether at the coffee points during small talks or in seminar rooms discussing working papers. The Law and Anthropology Department gives the important experience that you want to keep and share.

My greatest thanks to the team of the Law and Anthropology department for hosting me for a write-up fellowship over summer 2022 to work on my dissertation on the politics of foreign investment regulation. The MPI in Halle offers marvellous working conditions and my stay there was not only productive but also enjoyable. I was able to finalize my dissertation chapter on desire and foreign investment flows. I shared many good conversations, but one of the most remarkable and helpful parts of my sojourn was the ability to workshop this paper in the Working paper series getting feedback from researchers across the Institute. Generally, it is a great place to work--you meet great interesting colleagues, the library is very well furnished and it is a spell to work in the garden.

Through the generous funding of the DAAD Short Term Research Grant, I was able to join the Department of Law, Max Planck Institute of Social Anthropology, Halle, as a guest to complete my doctoral dissertation. The time I have spent at Max Planck has allowed me to participate in the development of cutting-edge scholarship on pressing social issues, including human rights. I have also enjoyed participating in informed discussions on the unfolding of the Russia-Ukrainian War. I gained from being part of these vibrant discussions, and I am sure many of them would significantly contribute to critical legal scholarship. In addition, I have received new insights into some of my academic writing.
